Habits that add up: practical tips for maintaining them

Habits that add up: practical tips for maintaining them

Hello Vibers! Happy New Year 🎉. With the arrival of a new year, there’s something almost everyone shares: the famous resolutions. Surely more than once you’ve made a list of all the goals you want to achieve in the new year, but many times we don’t even get halfway. No worries, you’re not alone!

That’s why today we want to share some practical tips to help you start and maintain new habits in a more realistic and sustainable way.

What are habits?

Habits are customs or practices acquired through the frequent repetition of an action. At first, they require conscious effort, but over time they become automatic and become part of our daily routine.

🧠 Think about it: how many times have you promised yourself to go for a walk in the morning? On the first day, you do it with enthusiasm and feel proud afterward. However, as the days go by, the initial motivation fades, fatigue or laziness appears, and the plan ends up being canceled.

Don’t worry: building habits takes time, patience and above all, a strategy that helps us stay consistent.

Our tips to make change easier

1. Create a visual cue 👀

Having something that reminds you of your goal can make all the difference. For example, if you want to drink more water, always keep a bottle or glass in sight. The easier it is to remember, the more likely you are to do it.

2. Use a calendar and mark it 📅

Write down each day you complete your habit. Crossing off or marking the days visually is more powerful than it seems: each mark is a small achievement and an extra source of motivation.

3. Get back on track as soon as possible 🔄

If one day you don’t achieve your goal, don’t punish yourself, it’s part of the process of building a habit. The key is not to let it turn into a pattern. Make sure you don’t skip two days in a row!

💡 As they say: “It’s not the first mistake that ruins a habit, but the days that follow.”

4. Track your progress 📝

Writing down your progress in the moment helps you become aware of what you’re achieving. Seeing it on paper reinforces consistency and encourages you to keep going.

Our habits for 2026

1. Go for a walk after meals 🚶‍♀️

After eating, blood glucose levels rise due to the digestion and absorption of nutrients. To regulate them, the pancreas releases insulin, which allows glucose to enter the cells and be used as energy.

When we move, insulin sensitivity increases, making it easier for muscles to take up glucose more efficiently. The result: lower glucose spikes and a feeling of lightness.

👉🏽 Glucotip: Walking for a few minutes after meals can help you feel less tired and more energized.

2. Sleep 7–8 hours a day 😴

Sleeping at least 7 hours is essential for both body and mind to function properly. Adequate rest helps regulate appetite hormones, improves mood and boosts energy throughout the day.

Maintaining a regular schedule and avoiding late bedtimes promotes deeper, more restorative sleep.

👉🏽 Glucotip: Put away electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bed and use that time for relaxing activities like reading, reflecting, or writing down your daily achievements. 📖🖋️

3. Respect the order of foods 🥗

The order in which you eat foods can make a difference in how your body responds:

  • 1️⃣ Fiber: Vegetables and salads
  • 2️⃣ Proteins and fats: Meat, fish, eggs, nuts, avocado
  • 3️⃣ Carbohydrates: Whole grains (quinoa, couscous, rice), tubers

Eating fiber, protein, and fats before starchy foods slows digestion and can reduce the glycemic impact of your meal.

👉🏽 Glucotip: Before starting, identify the foods on your plate and eat them in this order, it can improve your glucose response without much effort. 🥗🍗🍞

Remember, Vibers: it’s not about doing it perfectly, but about making it doable. Small habits sustained over time make a big difference.

Let’s go for a year full of consistency and well-being! 👋🏽🎉
